TO ALL 1ST DISTRICT STAR SAILORS:
Re: 1st District Fall Meeting -- Saturday Nov. 12, Newport, New York Yacht
Club:
The 1st District Star Class will host an exciting and productive meeting for
all district sailors at the New York Yacht Club's Harbour Court facility in
Newport RI, Saturday, November 12 from 12 noon to 3PM. Attendees are invited to
lunch and cocktails provided on a cash basis.
Unlike previous years where this meeting was attended primarily by fleet
representatives, this year we are calling on ALL 1st District Star sailors to
attend this priority event in a central location at a spectacular club!
This year's meeting theme is SUMMER 2006 -- "THE YEAR OF 1ST DISTRICT
PARTICIPATION!"
Top line meeting agenda points include:
(1) "Focus On Four" -- 2006 "Focus
Event" 1st District participation plan
2) Regatta Social/Party Strategy -- regatta entertainment
reinvigoration plan
3) Fleet Racing Forum -- ideas/actions for increasing club
racing
4) 1st District/Fleet Racing New Sailor Recruitment and
Promotion
5) Proposed Annual 1st District Awards Fall Banquet
The overall goal of the meeting will be to put a focused plan in action for
maximizing regatta participation (goal: 25 boats in each of (4) designated '06
regatta events) and to review ideas/actions to maximize fleet racing
participation at the club level. (Note: the "Focus On Four" program
will not limit the total number of regattas planned/hosted on the '06 1st
District Racing Schedule.
We are looking for sailors to bring their family's and in particular their
spouses to this meeting to enjoy Newport for a day or weekend (easy daytrip
drive from all fleet locations) -- and more importantly to provide the input
and commitment necessary to achieve obtainable/focused participation goals in
2006.
Therefore, please take this responsibility seriously and do your part to
support the District at this special meeting.

this email to Peter Cusick so that we have a head count no later than Friday,
October 21.
